The landscaping of new-build properties often takes a back seat to the architecture itself, even though it is precisely the outdoor space that creates the first impression upon arrival. The Sončni Gaj Vojnik residential complex, built by Peor gradbeno podjetje Celje d.o.o., is a good example of how carefully selected outdoor elements can complement modern architecture. Flamula planters were used to separate the ground-floor apartment terraces from the shared areas.
The building combines a white façade with dark anthracite accents and wooden cladding. This combination of materials also influenced the choice of outdoor elements. The planters needed to match the same aesthetic without standing out too much. In front of the entrances, the planters are arranged in a row, separating the private terraces from the shared areas. They therefore serve not only as a decorative feature but also as a practical partition that provides residents with greater privacy without the need for a high fence or wall.
Selected planters and their dimensions
Two sizes of Flamula planters were selected for the project: 30x120x60 cm and 30x80x60 cm, both in anthracite RAL 7016FS. The larger planters were placed along the main paths and near the entrances, where their length allows for denser planting. The RAL 7016FS colour was chosen deliberately, as it matches the dark window frames, balcony railings and roof edges of the building. The outdoor elements thus become an integral part of the architectural concept rather than simply an additional feature.
Why metal planters are a suitable choice
Metal planters offer several advantages over clay or concrete alternatives, particularly on larger residential projects. They are relatively lightweight for their size, which makes transport and installation easier, while still being strong enough to support the weight of soil, stones and plants throughout the seasons. The surface is resistant to weather conditions and retains its appearance for a long time.
