Premium Corten steel planters – made from Corten sheet metal that develops its characteristic rust-brown-orange patina outdoors. No coating, no painting, no regular maintenance. Ideal for terraces, balconies, gardens and entrances. Made in Europe. Fast shipping across Europe.
Corten steel planters are an excellent choice for anyone looking for a robust, modern and long-lasting look for their outdoor space. They suit the home, balcony, garden, terrace or public areas, and their characteristic rust-brown-orange patina adds a warm, natural note to any space – one that becomes more pronounced over time.
At Flamula, we offer a wide range of planters made from Corten steel, produced from high-quality Corten sheet metal. They suit a variety of styles and needs – from smaller balcony planters to large outdoor planters – and stay durable all year round, from hot summers to cold winters.
Corten is a steel that forms a stable surface patina outdoors. This layer slows further corrosion and protects the metal from deeper damage. Unlike powder-coated metal planters, which are smooth and single-coloured, Corten has a vivid, rust-brown-orange appearance with a rich texture that develops over years of use. Each piece is therefore unique.
Compared with wooden, ceramic or plastic versions, Corten planters offer numerous advantages. Wooden planters can crack over time, and plastic fades and loses strength with prolonged sun exposure – Corten sheet metal, on the other hand, stays sturdy and attractive even after many years. The protective patina develops and changes naturally, which means the planters never need additional painting or coating.
When landscaping a larger garden, terrace or public space, large Corten planters come into their own. With their solid construction and warm brown colour, they immediately draw the eye and give the space a professional, well-kept look. They allow you to plant larger specimens – ornamental trees, shrubs or perennials – while also serving a practical purpose: dividing space, screening unwanted views or guiding visitors. Thanks to their robustness, they are also popular in restaurants, hotels and commercial buildings.
For smaller outdoor areas such as balconies and narrow terraces, slim Corten planters are ideal, allowing you to plant flowers, herbs or ornamental plants despite the limited space. Their shape makes optimal use of the available area, while the warm tone of the patina gives the balcony character.
Standard dimensions do not always fit every space. That is why, at Flamula, we offer made-to-order Corten steel planters – we adapt the dimensions, height and shape to your space or project, from low planters for a staircase to tall planters for screening a seating area on the terrace. Whether for a home, a commercial building or a public area, we make the planter to your measurements.
Corten planters need virtually no maintenance – no coating, sanding or painting. The first traces of patina appear within a few days, while the even rust-brown-orange colour develops over a few weeks to months, depending on moisture and exposure to the weather. For a long service life, simply make sure water drains freely from the planter and that the soil is not left standing in water.
Installation tip: while the patina is developing, rust can run off the steel and leave marks on light-coloured surfaces (paving, terrace, façade). We recommend using spacers or a suitable base beneath the planter.
The choice depends on the look you want. If you are after a warm, natural appearance with minimal maintenance, Corten planters are the right choice. If, on the other hand, you want a specific colour (RAL) and a smooth, single-coloured surface, take a look at our range of powder-coated metal planters. If you are unsure which planters to choose, we will gladly advise you on your planning.
